REFORM FCRA: NGOS4INDIA
People are literally dying today…
Foreign donations to Indian NGOs are effectively banned, thanks to a new FCRA Amendment Act, 2020. This unnecessarily complicates fund transfers even to small field NGOs, and a host of other crippling restrictions! COVID19 Coronavirus disaster relief has been impossible, and we the civil society community have been unable to help frontline workers, children, farmers and the poor. India and its govt cannot, and need not fight alone. Let foreign donations through. Lives and livelihoods…

Our request to the Government of India, given a resurgent pandemic:

  1. Govt to fast-track approval for FCRA Non-Profit Organization applications. These have been waiting for over a year.
  2. Govt of India to put the FCRA Amendment Act on hold. It mandates onerous steps like State Bank of India FCRA account opening in Delhi branch, which takes months despite constant follow-ups.
  3. Reform the regulatory burden on NGOs and non-profits in general. By all means, add more govt officials to process and review the merits and national security implications thoroughly.

Each day of delay costs lives, literally. Let us help our people! If the worst is yet to hit, LET US PREPARE!
