Mahatma Gandhi emphasized the importance of Local Self Government via Panchayats in the development of the nation.

In his honour, Grama Sabha meetings are conducted in all panchayats of Tamil Nadu, where key issues of the particular area are discussed. ET-Impact has been engaging with village panchayats for over a decade. 

After over 20 years abroad, Gandhi came back to India to lead the freedom struggle.
