PMFBY: Govt of India Crop Insurance

About PMFBY
Govt of India Pradhan Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) Scheme provides crop insurance for farmers.

Who is eligible?
Farmers cultivating notified crop in the notified area. The scheme is compulsory for loanee farmers availing Crop Loan /KCC account for notified crops and voluntary for others.

What are the benefits?
Insurance cover against failure of crops.

What are the documents to be submitted?

  1. Aadhar Number/ PAN Number + 2 Photographs
  2. ID proof – PAN, Voter ID, Passport, MNREGA, Driving License.
  3. Address Proof – Ration card, Driving License, Tax receipt, water bill, electricity bill etc.

How to self-register on the PMFBY portal?
The user needs to click on ‘Register’ to register themselves on the portal and then enter the Official
information and Personal information. The user has to verify his/her Aadhar number (automatically
verified) and also verify the mobile number (OTP Verification).
The registration would be approved by the upper hierarchy and the user would be notified through an
SMS and a email upon approval/rejection.

What are the areas covered under this?
All Food & Oilseeds crops and Annual Commercial/Horticultural Crops for which past yield data is available and for which requisite number of Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) are conducted being under General Crop Estimation Survey (GCES). More details

What are the other important details? (if any)
COMPULSORY COVERAGE: Farmers in the notified area who possess a Crop Loan account/KCC account (called as Loanee Farmers) to whom credit limit is sanctioned/renewed for the notified crop during the crop season. Such other farmers whom the Government may decide to include from time to time.

VOLUNTARY COVERAGE: Voluntary coverage may be obtained by all farmers not covered in compulsory coverage above, including Crop KCC/Crop Loan Account holders whose credit limit is not renewed.

PM-KISAN: Govt of India Farmer Benefits

About PM-KISAN
Govt of India Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi PM-KISAN Scheme provides fixed annual payments for farmers.

Who is eligible?
All landholding farmers’ families, which have cultivable landholding in their names are eligible to get benefit under the scheme.

What are the benefits?
Under the scheme, all landholding farmers’ families shall be provided the financial benefit of Rs.6000 per annum per family payable in three equal installments of Rs.2000 each, every four months. The fund will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

What are the documents to be submitted?
Original papers of land
Applicant’s bank passbook and IFSC Code
Passport size photo
Identity card – Aadhaar Number, Driving license certificate, Voter ID card
Residence Certificate
Mobile number

How to apply online?

  1. To apply, firstly, click on the link www.pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. On the home page, you will find the Farmers Corner, click on it.
  3. Select ‘New Farmer Registration’
  4. Fill in all the details correctly and click on submit.
  5. Keep a hard copy for the future of the registration form

How to check your name on the list?
Visit the official PM KISAN website
Click on the ‘Beneficiary Status’ tab
Choose either option – Aadhaar number, Account number, or Mobile number
Click on ‘Get Data’
Beneficiary details will be displayed

Definition of family:
According to this scheme, family includes husband, wife and minor children. 

Who are not eligible to get benefits under the Scheme?

  • All Institutional Land holders
  • All superannuated/retired pensioners whose monthly pension is Rs.10,000/-or more
    (Excluding Multi Tasking Staff / Class IV/Group D employees) of above category
  • All Persons who paid Income Tax in last assessment year
