Happy Republic Day

Today marks the 74th Republic Day, the day the Constitution of India came into effect. Our Constitution, especially the Preamble, is the most compelling document in existence affirming democracy.

But what is Democracy?
It is often incorrectly assumed to be the rule of the majority. This does not mean that for the sake of majority sentiments an individual’s voice can be suppressed—effectively alienating the Fundamental Right to Freedom of Expression.  

In a country with the most diverse and heterogeneous populace, ALL voices deserve a platform.

For democracy to survive in a vast country like India, it is necessary that all citizens stand united and play their respective roles towards the progress of the nation.
The trajectory of Indian democracy depends on its people, as much as it depends on its leaders. 

We request you to know your rights and exercise them!
